Walking, made to measure
Turn the steps you have left into the walk you need.
Tell Stroll>On how many steps you still have to do today and it plans a real walking route from where you are standing that gets you there.
Free while in beta · No account · Works offline once it is on your home screen
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us how many steps you have left
Set your daily goal once. Then type what your phone or watch says you have done today, and Stroll>On works out the rest.
- Step 2
Stroll>On finds a route
It turns those steps into a distance, then builds real walking routes from your exact location and picks the ones that land closest to it.
- Step 3
Go hit your goal
Follow the map on your phone. You can see the predicted steps, the time it should take and the hills before you set off.
Why people like it
Stroll>On does one job properly rather than ten jobs badly.
- Real walkable routes from your exact location. Pavements, paths and crossings from OpenStreetMap, not a circle drawn on a map.
- Loops that come back to your door. No working out how to get home once you have run out of steps.
- Honest numbers. We show the predicted step count and the difference from your target. We never pretend it is exact.
- No account needed. Nothing to sign up to. Your settings and saved walks live on your own device.
- Works as an app on your phone. Add it to your home screen and it opens full screen, like any other app.
- Greener, quieter where it can be. Stroll>On prefers parks, footpaths and residential streets where the map data supports it, and tells you when it has had to use a main road.
A worked example
4,000 steps at an estimated stride of 75 cm is about 3.01 km • 1.87 mi of walking. Here is the loop Stroll>On came back with:
+11 steps out of 4,000 is close enough to walk without thinking about it — and it is the sort of difference we show you rather than round away.
Stroll>On Pro
Free while in betaPro adds three alternative routes to choose from, greener and quieter preferences, saved walks, GPX export and step calibration. While Stroll>On is in beta every one of those is switched on for everybody, at no cost.
Questions people ask
Do I need an account?
No. Stroll>On works straight away in your browser. Your goal, your height and any routes you save stay on your device, so there is nothing to sign up to and nothing to delete later.
How does it know how far my steps go?
It multiplies the steps you have left by your step length. If you tell us your height we estimate your step length from it; if you would rather be exact, you can measure your own stride and type it in. Either way the app labels the figure as an estimate.
Will the walk really hit my step goal?
It gets close, and it always shows you the predicted step count and how far off your target it is. Pavements, crossings and your own stride on the day all move the number a little, so treat it as a good prediction rather than a promise.
Do the routes come back to where I started?
By default, yes: you get a loop that finishes at your starting point. You can also ask for an out-and-back, or a walk that ends at a destination such as the shops or a station.
What does it cost?
The core of Stroll>On is free, and everything is free while it is in beta. Later, extras such as three alternative routes, saved walks and GPX export will sit behind a Pro subscription.
How many steps have you got left today?
Give Stroll>On a number and it will give you a walk. No account, nothing to install.
