The important one

Routes are suggestions, not instructions. Look where you are going, check conditions and lighting before you set off, cross roads at safe places, and turn back if a path is not right for you. You are responsible for your own safety on a walk.

1. Who these terms are between

They are between you and Stroll>On, the small independent team behind this app. By using the site or the app you accept them. If you do not, please do not use it. There is no account to close — stopping is simply a matter of closing the tab.

2. Stroll>On is in beta

The service is still being built. Features may change, move or disappear, routes may occasionally fail to generate, and there may be periods when the service is unavailable. We do not promise uptime, and we may change or withdraw parts of the service. Everything is currently provided free of charge; if paid plans are introduced you will be told clearly and asked before anything is charged.

3. Routes are suggestions

Stroll>On generates walking routes from open map data. That data can be out of date, incomplete or simply wrong: a path may be closed, flooded, private, unlit, unsuitable for a wheelchair or pushchair, or unpleasant in a way no dataset records. We prefer quieter and greener ways where the data allows it, but we cannot see the route and we do not inspect it.

So: use your judgement. Follow the Highway Code, cross where it is safe rather than where the line on the map goes, respect access rights and private land, take proper care in the dark or in bad weather, and do not follow the map instead of your eyes.

4. Step and distance figures are estimates

Step counts, distances, durations and ascent figures shown by the app are calculated estimates, based on your step length and on open elevation data. They will not match your phone, your watch or a wheel measure exactly, and we do not guarantee their accuracy. The app is a planning aid, not a measuring instrument.

5. Not health advice

Nothing in Stroll>On is medical or health advice, and step goals are not a prescription. If you have a condition that affects your walking, or you are increasing your activity substantially, take advice from a suitably qualified professional rather than from an app.

6. Fair use

You may use Stroll>On for your own walking, as much as you like. Please do not:

call our routing endpoints from scripts, bots or your own software, or scrape the API or the site;
try to get round rate limits, or generate routes in bulk — the routing budget is shared and finite;
attempt to break, overload, probe or reverse-engineer the service;
use the service unlawfully, or in a way that harms or harasses anybody.

If you would like programmatic access to something, email hello@strollon.app and ask. We would rather have the conversation than block you.

7. Your content and shared links

Walks you save stay on your device. When you share a walk, you are choosing to publish that link to whoever you send it to; anyone with the link can open the walk. Do not share a route from your home if you would rather people did not know where you live.

8. Other people's data and software

Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence. Map tiles are served by OpenFreeMap and routing is provided by openrouteservice. Their terms apply to their parts, and we credit all three in the footer of every page.

9. Liability

The service is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude implied warranties, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from your reliance on a route, a distance or a step estimate. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited — and nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, this page changes and the date at the top is updated; significant changes will be flagged in the app as well. Continuing to use Stroll>On after a change means you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law

These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK you keep the benefit of any mandatory local consumer protections.
